    :-o

    Hallo Mike,

hier habe ich was für dich.
    Suppression Time

Although Update checks the queue every 5 seconds, it does not refresh views at the same interval. Instead, it uses what is known as the Update Suppression Time. With Suppression Time, Update waits for multiple, similar requests to be deposited in the queue and then batches them. In this way, Update processes all changes to a database at the same time. Since the Indexer is the most CPU-intensive Domino server task, batching requests reduces the performance impact on a server significantly. It is only after the Suppression Time has passed that Update forces the update of the view collection and the full text indexes as requested. By default, the Suppression Time is 5 minutes; however, this can be overridden with the following NOTES.INI parameter:

    Update_Suppression_Time=minutes

Sametime 3.0: Repeatedly Prompted to Authenticate When Attempting to "Administer the Server"

    Problem:

Your Sametime 3.0 server is installed on top of Domino. When you click on the "Administer the Server" link located on the Sametime home page and enter in the proper credentials, you are repeatedly prompted to authenticate and are not able to access the Administration pages.

You are attempting to authenticate using a user name which is listed in an Administrators Group document. You have followed the instructions in the Sametime 3.0 Administration Guide to create an Administrators Group document (see excerpt from 3.0 Administrator's Guide below) to hold the names of the Sametime administrators. This should allow all users listed in the Group document to log in and access the Sametime Administration Tool. This does not seem to be working for you.

    Create an Administrators Group document

This procedure is the second of five required when adding a new Sametime administrator. In this procedure, you create a group document to hold the names of Sametime administrators.

To create an Administrators Group document:

    1. From the Sametime server home page, click "Administer the Server."
    2. From the Sametime Administration Tool:

If you are using a Domino Directory with the Sametime server, select Domino Directory - Domino.
If you are using an LDAP directory with the Sametime server, select LDAP Directory.

    3. Choose "Add Sametime Administrators -Create a group for the administrators."
    4. Click Add Group.
    5. Enter a name for the group in the "Group name" field (for example, "Administrators" or "Sametime Administrators").
    6. For group type, select Multipurpose.
    7. (Optional) Enter a description of the group in the Description field.
    8. In the Members field, list the names of users you want to access the Sametime Administration Tool. Make sure to enter the name exactly as it is entered in the topmost entry of the "User name" field of a user's Person document.
    9. Select Administration at the top of the Group document.
    10. Enter the names of the group owners in the Owners field. Generally, the group owner is the administrator creating the group. Only the administrator listed in the Owners field can modify this Group document. If the Owners field is blank, any administrator can modify this Group document.
    11. Click "Save & Close."

    Hallo Merlin,

Sametime 2.0: Access Control Lists Are Unavailable to the Administrator

    Problem:

Sametime administrators can use the Sametime Administration Tool to access the Access Control Lists (ACLs) for databases on the Sametime server. To access the ACLs, the administrator chooses Domino Directory - Access Control (or LDAP Directory - Access Control) from the Sametime Administration Tool. The ACLs are unavailable to an administrator.

    Solution:

If the ACLs are unavailable to an administrator, it may be necessary to add the administrator's name (or administrator's group) to a "File Protection Document" in the Domino Directory. (If you are running the Sametime Administration Tool in an Internet Explorer Web browser, see the note at the bottom of this topic before performing this procedure.)

CGI scripts for the Sametime Administration Tool ACL applet are stored in the "adm-bin" directory on the Sametime server. The adm-bin directory is protected by a "File Protection Document" that is stored in the Domino Directory. This File Protection Document controls who can read, write, or execute programs that are stored in the adm-bin directory. To enable a Sametime administrator to use the ACL applet in the Sametime Administration Tool, you must ensure that the administrator's name (or administrator's group) appears in this File Protection Document.

To add an administrator's name (or administrator's group) to the File Protection Document:

    1. Use a Lotus Notes client to open the Directory on the Sametime server.
    2. Select Server - Web Configurations.
    3. Click the twistie to the left of the Sametime server name.
    4. Click the twistie to the left of "Domino Server."
    5. Double-click on the document named "Access to C:\Lotus\Domino\Data\domino\adm-bin" to open the File Protection Document.
    6. Click "Edit File Protection."
    7. Click the Access Control tab.
    8. Click the "Set/Modify Access Control List" button. The Access Control List dialog appears.
    9. Select the arrow to the right of the "Name" box to browse the list of names and groups in the Directory. The Names box appears.
    10. Select the Directory for the Sametime server.
    11. Select the administrator's name (or administrator's group) from the list of Directory entries and click OK.
    12. From the Access: radio buttons, select the "Write/Read/Execute access (POST and GET method)" option.
    13. Click Next.
    14. Click OK.
    15. Save and Close the File Protection Document.

You must restart the server for this change to take effect.

Note: If you are using Internet Explorer, and the names of databases do not appear in the ACL list in the Sametime Administration Tool, you may need to type a valid filename in the Filename box of the Access Control List, and click the Access button to make the entire list of databases appear. The names may not appear until you have manually typed in a valid filename.

Start Internet Explorer and open the Sametime Administration Tool on the Sametime server.
Select Domino Directory (or LDAP Directory) - Access Control.
Enter a valid Sametime filename in the "Filename:" box of the Access Control List. (For example, type STCONF.NSF in the "Filename:" box.)
    Click the Access button.

If the list of databases still does not appear, restart Internet Explorer, access the Sametime Administration Tool, and select the
Domino Directory - Access Control link. The filenames should appear in the Access Control list.

Title: Setting up ScanMail for Lotus Notes 2.5x for optimal performance or scanning memory.

Problem: The Help Database for ScanMail for Lotus Notes or smconf.nsf has a 'how to optimize ScanMail peformance' section, stating "04 Setting up the ScanMail for optimal performance".

What would be the good number to specify in order to use this feature?

Solution: ScanMail Lotus Notes’s scanning in memory is:

    SMScanMem=value[kb]

Trend Micro suggests to use between 3-5MB value since most attachments are less than 3-5MB. For example, 3 MB would be SMScanMem=3072

Take note that each ScanMail task (i.e. tmmscan, repscan, pscan, dbscan) would be allocated this number in memory. Repscan and tmmscan are two tasks always running in Real-time. If the value specified is 5MB then repscan and tmmscan will each use 5MB in memory. A total of 10MB.

If an attachment is bigger than the specified value, it will be scanned on the hard drive using the \SMtemp directory which ScanMail uses to due its scanning.

If the value is > 0, ScanMail uses RAM instead of detaching files to hard disk. ScanMail for Notes tries to allocate the RAM specified by the value in KB for every running ScanMail scanning module such as tmmscan, repscan, pscan, dbscan. There is no memory sharing between the tasks. Default value = 0. The variable must be set manually for scanning in memory.

    Important
Before making any changes in the Notes.ini file, it is recommended to check the number of free / available memory on the server. The system might be overloaded, which will cause the server to fail due to lack of memory if the specified number is high.

    Hallo Silver,

Error: "Unable to Browse Oracle..." Creating a Connectivity Record via DECS

    Problem:

A customer is using Domino Enterprise Connection Services (DECS) with Domino 4.6x or 5.x and attempts to create a Connectivity record. The customer has run the LCTEST, is then prompted for the username and password, and receives the Connect to Oracle Verified message. However, the following error also displays:

"Unable to browse Oracle, an error occurred while attempting to load connectivity to Oracle. Please verify that the
necessary vendor libraries have been installed".

    Solution:

Per the Lotus Connectors Connectivity (LCCON.NSF) database, Chapter 6--Oracle Connectivity Section: Requirements for Oracle Connectivity:

"Oracle 8: Enterprise Integrator and DECS link with Oracle 7.3 libraries, which use SQL*NET for the communications layer. If you are using Oracle 8 with DECS or Enterprise Integrator, you must install Oracle SQL*NET."

The requirement for SQL*NET to be installed is applicable to all platforms. SQL*NET can be installed with an Oracle 8 client by means of a custom install. The requirement for SQL*NET to be installed also applies to running LC LSX agents using the Oracle connector.

    Hallo Hollja,

    ;)
